Now you can connect your past with your present! Using 100 DNA markers to determine the origins of your ancestors, this test first identifies the geographic areas that contributed to your DNA, giving you a picture of where you came from. After determining your genetic makeup based on your past, the test looks at STR (Short Tandem Repeat) markers, also known as the 13 CODIS loci, to compare your DNA to populations in today’s world  and identify the people with whom your DNA has the most in common.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Meh, I guess... Bought the test about a month ago, thinking it would be a nice, interesting test, to learn more of my genetic history. The price was reasonable, the wait time not too bad, but I can’t help wondering if I’ve been had for $40. Paid for the “basic” test, and according to this test, the majority of my genetic heritage lies in the Middle East (Qatar, Kuwait, Iraq, etc.). That being said, no one in my family is aware of such a lineage, with the furthest drawn lineage being that of Spain and Germany. Yeah, maybe my genes are from the Middle East, but I think a second opinion couldn’t hurt.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from At least I know something now. Due to budget limitations, I got the "Basic" version of the kit. I always suspected I had some Non-European ancestry, but I was suspecting African or Native American, not Malaysian. Predominantly Hungarian European Ancestry was also a surprise, I have no Known Hungarian relatives. Malaysia was a British Colony from roughly the Mid 1700s to 1963. The drawback it I would prefer to be able to amend this data with Improved information (such as what parents' side is which ethnicity) for a small fee. Unfortunately the way it works is you have to start anew with the more sophisticated test.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from DNA Testing I was expecting this would show percentages of your DNA results but it does not. It is a generalization of regions, i.e. European; Indigenous American; Sub-Saharian African and East Asian. You will fall within one or more of these general regions but a percentage is not noted. Mine came back European: 1) Ireland; 2) Slovenia; 3)Sweden; 4)Portugal; 5) Saudi Aribia and 6)Czech Republic. However, through documentation other than DNA, my mother can be traced back as Bohemian. I am guessing in this DNA test she would be number 6) Czech Republic. Does this mean my father's genetic donation would be 1 through 5: 1) Ireland; 2) Slovenia; 3)Sweden; 4)Portugal; 5) Saudi Aribia?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from What a surprise! I am really surprised about these results. Both sides of grandparents came from the western part of Europe........Denmark, The Netherlands, Germany, and England. I am speaking of relatives several generations ago. My grandparents were born in the mid 1800s. It is hard to believe that their ancestors would have traveled from Pakistan and/or Nigeria. And the other thing that surprises me is the coloring. Most of my family have light complexions with blond or light brown hair and blue or green eyes. I have done a little checking and one grandfather's family was traced to the USA in 1739.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! So surprised at my results. I had no idea I was 10% indigenous American. There were always rumors, but it was great to have it confirmed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Enough Info. I thought the results would be more specific. The kit advertised on T.V. told what % Native American. This kit only told the continent and country.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from a lotta croc So I am 30% Australian and 15% South African? I thought that my Mother's father was an orphaned Romanian and my Fathers Parents were German and Polish? Now I know 45% of my heritage is from below the Equator or in the Southern Hemisphere.I should know more about the Crocodiles. Maybe that's why I have such a desire to visit Antarctica more than the Arctic?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent I bought this and expected the results to take a while . Results were fast. I'm still in awe of my heritage
